APPLE PROCESSORS ASSOCIATION'S FOOD SAFETY POLICY

The Apple Processors Association believes that the American public should have sufficient access to foods that are safe and nutritious. The safety of the food supply is best ensured by the government establishing strong, consistent safety standards, monitoring the food supply, and enforcing the standards to assure they are met. Consumers should receive scientifically sound, unbiased information to adequately judge the safety of the food supply. They need to know about methods of food production and processing which protect the food from microbial contamination and pest infestation, while also minimizing exposure to unsafe residues. They need to know what is done to assure a steady supply of food at reasonable prices.

Apple processors avoid using apples that have residues of unsafe pesticides. To assure the safety of apple products, every effort is made to inspect and test apples throughout the processing operation. Processors strive to produce the highest quality apple products that meet government food safety standards.
